Leaving Athens, Greece.

Fri Jun 19, 2009, 3:48 AM
  • Mood: Happy
  • Listening to: "Dont Think I Love You" by Hoobastank.
  • Reading: "The Girl who Played With Fire" by Stieg
  • Watching: Whatever movies I have on my HDD.
  • Playing: the little game I like to call saving money...
  • Eating: A Yiros.
  • Drinking: water... staying hydrated lol.
OK so I am back again this time from the amazing country called Greece. I have been living here for 3 months now and I return to America in two days on the 22nd. I cant wait to be home again with my friends watching movies in the cinemas and eating whenever i want without the feeling of going broke every time I spend one Euro/Dollar. I miss my mother and my own room... I have to share a room with a guy here, its like being back in the dorms freshman year.

I have learned so much about myself and history that I feel like I am on overload and I need to shut down but I cant there is still so much to be done before I return home and upon arrival. Also those first weeks will be the most intense weeks in a long time. Getting all my affairs back in order... I am going to have my phone back and internet and cable and a car!!! Being a child of the electronic age I have gotten used to some of the luxuries the world has to offer. I have adapted but I know once I return I will revert back to my old self (which isn't so bad right?).

I have soo many funny and not funny stories about this trip I could talk for days. I haven't had time really (or mainly the internet) to put pictures up on here because the loading system is slow but I will continue to work on it and put more up. i have gotten to see so many sites and beautiful sunsets and amazing landscapes its almost ridiculous.

Before coming here I hadn't even been in Europe only Canada for a short time and Mexico for a week and a half for vacation. Now I have gotten to see Athens, London, Paris and Rome. Plus so many smaller cities along the way. I have eaten Italian Pizza and Gelato. I had a crepe in Paris while laying in the park looking at the Eiffel Tower. I ate a traditional English Breakfast a Pub in London right beside the Tower Bridge then saw a Shakespearean Play at the famous Globe Theatre. Numerous times I have sat on my roof and watched the sunset thus bringing to life the lights atop the Acropolis while eating a Greek Salad or a Yiros. I walked through ancient ruins all over Greece and Rome and then got a taste of the modern world in Paris and London.

Life here has been good to me I have loved every minute of my time here even the times where I wanted to beat the crap out of a guy in the program who was being a complete Dousch!!! Or the times I went off on a few girls are literally some of the dumbest people I have ever met. But overall those experiences taught me something and I will always remember what I have learned here.

I have no regrets about my amazing European adventure. I can honestly say that this has been the best time of my life. Every trip to a new city will forever be bracketed by this experience. I have been shaped like never before, one of the best quotes I have heard since being here is...

"Man cannot remake himself without suffering, for he is both the marble and the sculptor."

Through all my sufferings good or bad I am a new statue. I have been picked, cut, cleaned and then finished with splotch of paint. So for all you out there who are thinking about traveling the world all I have to say to you is go for it and put your whole heart and effort into it. You will start out one way and come out different and better for it. Life is not about the end destination but the Journey in which you take to get there.

So as I sit here righting this I might find myself thinking of home and what it will be like when I return, I know truly in my heart that I am going to miss this place and everything that came with it. Though this experience is over it has begun a whole new Journey for me, who knows what lies ahead but what I know is Im Ready!

Thanks for reading.
Steven Dale Parker aka Dmano.

Your work is completely awesome. You do detail very well and I see that your pencil artwork is descriptive. Excellent job and hope to see more from you.

Time is always on your side, if you use it correctly

Well we just broke up.

Too different. She's a bit pissed, more she's still wanting to make it work. She doesn't seem to grasp the finality of it.

Nice on the Jeep, although I never liked those configurations.

Well I'll probably be busy that weekend. What concert though?

Yeah, it does suck. But I think I may have one here soon. The thing is, I'd end up loading and unloading mail truck (semi's...like goin from city to city) and other monkey work. Also I'd end up working shifts like either 4 pm, to midnight, or midnight to 7 am.

Sounds crappy huh? Well there is one silver lining. I'd be getting NO LESS than $13.00 and hour and be making at least a thousand a check.

Still working on it, but it sounds like a decent chance.

What do you do a WMART? Automotive? Electronics? Or is you just a lowly cart wrangler?

Superman was ok, not as good as the Spiderman movies, but still pretty cool. I liked the part where he got shot in the eye, but it was too hard. And then the guy practically shit himself after. Yeah.

I have yet to see Pirates II, but I'll probably go see it with my "possible" Girl Friend Kristi. She's got a smokin hot body, but a bit of a butterface, not too bad, but still...
I'll tell ya more about her next time I see her. I haven't seen her since coming back, but I've talked to her a bunch.
She sounds like she's pretty "open" about stuff, if you know what I mean. Problem is she won't be 18 until September 13th. (Guess what she's getting for her birthday?)

Good on ya for finishing your story! Gonna upload it anytime soon?

Well that's just about it...

Later!

Nice, wal mart eh? Anyone giving you crap about that? (y'know, the whole Wal*Mart is evil thing) Finals was real rough, but I did well on them and got A's an B's in all my classes, and a C+ in Math (A Helluva lot better than I expected). I'm still working on getting a job, It's really hard for some reason.
I ran into an old friend who I used to really really like, but now that I've seen her again I've realized something...

I STILL really really like her. I don't know, check out my "Rebound" poem's Artist Comments for the full story.
